Over half of the global population is believed to suffer from a deficiency in vitamin D, and a potentially greater proportion may have suboptimal levels in their bodies at any given moment.

This week, you’ll learn about the science that states the sun on your skin is very good for your health – and begin to build a personal relationship with the sun and perceive it as a friend.

For example, the sun’s rays provide warmth and light that enhance your general feeling of wellbeing and stimulate blood circulation. UV radiation is essential to the body as it stimulates the production of vitamin D. And, when light interacts with melanin in your body, it stimulates the process of breaking down water (H2O) to produce energy.

Module 2: Discover How Light & Dark Support Healthy Circadian Rhythms, Melatonin Production & the Autonomic Nervous System (May 8)

Melatonin is made in the early morning but is not released until darkness sets in. This week, you’ll explore the function of melatonin, how it’s produced, and the importance of sunlight for this mechanism.

The evolution story is about light and dark. Nowadays, we have artificial light and blue light, which interferes with our natural circadian rhythms and makes us sick.

Brian will share the Ayurvedic perspective of the natural rhythms of the day and your circadian rhythm, which is set by being with the sun as it rises.

You’ll also explore the importance of darkness and the urgency to go on a tech fast – and the importance of being in the light as the sun rises…

Why do we eat, and why do we breathe? We do it so that mitochondria can produce ATP – the energy required for all of our biological processes. Its dysfunction results in a loss of energy, and the proper function of your mitochondrial engine is a reflection of how healthy you are.

Light is the primary ingredient that enables our mitochondria to function properly. Near-infrared light from sunlight stimulates the production of melatonin in mitochondria. Melatonin has antioxidant effects and can stabilize mitochondria.

About 80% of your body is made up of water. When your skin is exposed to unfiltered sunlight, a particular type of water called exclusion zone (EZ) water, or the fourth phase of water, is formed in your cells. This means the water inside your cells is structured water.

This week, explore the benefits of synchronizing your system with the phases of the moon and building a relationship with it. The moon is a feminine, compassionate, sensitive, and intuitive entity.

You’ll also be guided in an embodied movement practice on the qualities of the moon, particularly during the auspicious rohini nakshatra (nakshatra are the stars that influence a person’s life based on the position of the moon at birth).

Sea swimming, cold baths, ice baths, and walks in the cold cause mitochondria to release infrared light that’s stored in your fat – and cold exposure releases that light from inside.

This week, explore the science that reveals how this process – called cold thermogenesis – improves overall wellbeing by reducing inflammation, enhancing the immune system, and improving mood.

Cold exposure also increases your capacity to make energy and triggers the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which play a crucial role in emotion regulation and stress management.
