“How many hours does this take per week?”
You will play together about 2 – 3 hours every 2 weeks. There is a training video that you can watch with or without your partner that takes about an hour. You will do a 2- hour Date Night together about every 2 weeks. This is the pace that most couples have said works best for them – but you can customize it. Some couples do three Date Nights per week! Some couples can’t swing three straight hours so they divide it up and do one hour per week. You have access to the material forever, so you truly can do this at your own pace.

Is this course only for heterosexual couples or can LGBTQ+ couples do it?
We fully welcome and celebrate homosexual, queer, bisexual, and pansexual couples and any other sexual expressions here at Layla Martin.

However, the content as it is now is heteronormative although when I originally made the course my dream was for it to feel inclusive. At the time I found it difficult to guide genital practices while staying inclusive; the audio guides contain limited genital namings and have implicit assumptions that a couple is “male/female” and/or can identify with “masculine/feminine”. My goal was to include an LGBTQ+ couple in the visual-guided process, but we filmed the course in Bali and could only find heterosexual couples to volunteer to be in the course, so there are only straight couples featured in the visual practices.

I have learned so much since originally creating this course in terms of inclusivity and safety for LGBTQ+ folks, so I do want to be clear here that the course materials as they are now are heteronormative, so you are clear on what this is and can make the best decision for yourself and your relationship.

A gay, queer, or trans couple can navigate the course and make these practices their own, but it will take adjustment to make the course materials suitable for you. For example, if you are two people with vaginas in a couple, you would, for instance, repeat the Pussy Massage practice twice and not do the Penis Massage practice. If you were two people with penises, you would repeat the Penis Massage practice and not do the Pussy Massage practice. However the course emails, materials, and the visual guided practices are cis-gendered and heteronormative, which may be challenging to navigate and may cause harm, so please feel into if that would work for you and if you would feel safe.

I fully embrace and celebrate LGBTQ+ people and want you to be fully included in Tantric work and to celebrate your sexuality! For this course however, you will need to adjust the material to be suitable for you.

This is the last time we’ll run Epic Lovers. In the future I’m committed to creating a couples program that is much more inclusive, working with consultants to help weave LGBTQ+ experience into the DNA of the course to be more suitable for ALL couples. Is this course for CIS-gendered couples only or is it suitable for couples where one or both partners identify with other genders?
In our course and materials, we use the words “woman” and “man” for any persons who identify as a woman or a man regardless of their assigned sex at birth. We acknowledge that gender is non-binary, fluid, and on a spectrum and support each individual’s right to live in alignment with their gender identity.
I welcome and celebrate couples where one or both partners identify as trans-gendered. Epic Lovers is designed for people who are afab and amab – assigned female/male at birth, as you work with your body in different practices that include sexual anatomy and biology, as well as energy and visualization. Your gender and sexual orientation are irrelevant to the practices, but the language and the visual examples are cis-gendered and heteronormative. You would need to adapt the practices to make it suit your relationship. The gender-assuming language and heteronormative visual examples in the materials may be challenging to navigate and may cause harm, so please feel into if that would work for you and if you would feel safe. If you’re okay working with practices that are labeled “Men’s” and “Women’s” and practices that include language as “feminine” and “masculine” and can feel supported to navigate and make them applicable to yourself and your body – then it would work for you.

Can I do this course if I’m in a poly-relationship?
Yes, however, sign up only allows for two participating people and the course is designed for coupled exercises, but if you want to do it with a partner that you are in an open or poly-relationship with, then you are most welcome to join the course. If you desire to share the course with a third person, you will have to let us know so we can include them at an additional cost.
